Flurry reports every dollar of iOS revenue, developers only get 24 cents from Android. Peter Farago, VP of Marketing at Flurry, thoughts on the mobile platform wars.
Farago also believes that Google will have a hard time fixing the problem, it goes against the company’s DNA. Google wants to create highly scalable, frictionless systems. Consequently, it’s the “anti-customer service company;” search engines don’t have help lines. Apple and Amazon, on the other hand, have customer and retail in their DNA, it is a critical aspect of their user experience.

Closing Android’s monetization gap, therefore, is not only a cultural challenge, but an inherent issue with the platform’s business model.

At the recent Le Web conference in France, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt declared that “Android is ahead of the iPhone now.” According to Schmidt, Android’s success is due to “unit volume, Ice Cream Sandwich,” because “the price is lower” and because “there are more vendors.”
Yet developers still shy away from it.
Why? The largest single factor that appears to impact developer support for the platform is the consumer’s ability to pay, for every $1 a developer makes on in-app purchases on the iOS platform they make $0.24 on Android.

AppleInsider: Serious security flaws discovered in Android phones, Samsung and HTC ignore issuex

From the paper (PDF link) AppleInsider found:

By exploiting these leaked capabilities, an untrusted app on these affected phones can manage to wipe out the user data on the phones, send out SMS messages (e.g., to premium numbers), record user conversation, or obtain user geolocations – all without asking for any permission.

In other words: Android OEMs are playing fast and loose with customer privacy and security when tinkering with Android’s underpinnings, adding features, or making modifications to suit their priorities.
