Fair Use 1, Copyright Troll 0 →
futurejournalismproject: Righthaven, a company that purchases newspaper content such as articles and photos so it can sue anyone who might use any part of them, lost a major suit against the Center For Intercultural Organizing (CIO) which had reprinted a Righthaven article on immigration in its entirety. US District Judge James Mahan said the CIO was protected by Fair Use, calling its use of...

– Daring Fireball: Magic, a piece pointing out that, while Tweetbot (my new primary iPhone client) might be divisive and off-the-beaten-path in terms of iOS behavior, it’s still a great example of what makes iOS wonderful. (via chartier)

Kiwi MP Melissa Lee – Copyright Hypocrisy or... →
The New Zealand Herald (April 15) reports that National MP Melissa Lee (@melissaleemp), who declared her support for the new copyright amendment bill in parliament, has also listened to a compilation of South Korean pop songs. Apparently, Lee believes this to be perfectly legal, as her legally downloaded (bought) the music. Of course, her friend would also have had to copythe music in order to...

Is Android forked? Give Amazon a chance →
It’s not impossible that, in attempting to get a grip on the Android ecosystem, Google will end up pushing its former partners into forever moving it out of reach. It’s even possible that these firms could form a consortium that eventually rivals Google for control over the platform. Open source software is a slippery business.

onethingwell: Coralrift makes it easy to get your website online. Just choose a subdomain and drag and drop a zip file of your website. An interesting option if you need a (free) host for an infrequently-updated site.

In Some Situations, Having Less Information Leads...
Rapid cognition—the subconscious thought process that takes place in the blink of an eye—is often better at identifying patterns than our analytical thought process, particularly in times or stress or high pressure. But the ability to tap into rapid cognition is hindered when overloaded with more than a few pieces of data.

Rumor has it that the iPhone 5 will not be... →
applehub: From what i’ve been reading around the interwebz, it looks like we will not be seeing the next generation iPhone in June, but rather in September, which is also around the time that several leaks suggested that Apple will showcase the next generation iPad. Judging by how quickly nVIDIA is moving…
